Company Description:

Vox Aeris is on a mission to make clean indoor air an accessible right through advanced purification technologies. We are an early stage company, focused on an innovative acoustic-based pre-filtration technology aimed at improving particulate matter capture and reducing energy consumption in commercial ventilation systems, while also exploring other application areas.

Description of Role:

As an engineering intern at Vox Aeris, you will collaborate closely with the founder and will be instrumental in our research and development process. Your responsibilities will include conducting technical literature searches, applying design thinking to a complex technology, assisting in the conceptual design of prototypes and test setups, analyzing data to provide feedback for design improvements, ideating new potential applications of the core technology, and engaging in customer discovery. This role will involve coming up with design directions, prototyping ideas, designing a test rig, and gaining experience in technical product design, CAD design, industrial design, and understanding air filtration technologies. The work will be conceptual and computer-based, conducted remotely. You will have the opportunity to go through a comprehensive product design cycle, significantly impacting both prototype development and business direction.

What you’ll do:

  • Go through a comprehensive product design cycle, impacting prototype development and business direction.

  • Conduct technical literature searches and learn about air filtration and agglomeration technology.

  • Familiarize yourself with industry standards in air filtration and HVAC regulation.

  • Assist in conceptual design, CAD, and analysis of prototypes and test setups.

  • Apply design thinking to a complex technology.

  • Help with product and industrial design.

  • Ideate other potential applications of the core technology.

  • Engage in customer discovery.

  • Collaborate closely with the founder and document procedures/results.

  • Work conceptually and computer-based.

Required skills/abilities

  • Interest in sustainable building technologies and air purification systems.

  • Experience in rapid prototyping and product design.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and technical aptitude.

  • Proficiency in at least one CAD design software. (Catia preferred)

  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new challenges.

Preferred skills/abilities

  • Engineering analysis skills

  • Industrial Design and rendering skills is a plus

  • Familiarity with HVAC systems or air purification technology.

  • Skills in developing and implementing test methods and setups.

  • Knowledge of air filter guidelines and rating systems.

  • Experience with data analysis and reporting.

Compensation: £13.15 per hour via a monthly bursary based on hours contributed towards the project.
